The large, brown pelted, female otter whooped loudly as she steered her rudder through the waters swiftly. It was a warm day in the Water Meadows, the dragonflies hovering from lily pad to bulrush. Minnows and all kind of small fish darted away from the riverdog as she continued her swim. And there she saw it. A ridge above the water. She hauled herself from the shallows and climbed up to the small hill. A handful of gravel came lose and it tumbled below as she climbed fearlessly up the sheer face. it was a vertical drop, but no taller than by one head.
She finally reached the top, viewing the meadows before her. She sniffed loudly and then ran towards the edge of the ridge, barreling off the top, still whooping loudly. She hit the water with a splash, sending water every which way as well as ripples and waves.

The otter maid suddenly noticed a hare along the shores, wiping water from his eyes. She grimaced and approached him. "Sorry matey! I be Arawn. It was a su'prise t' meet ya here, Kirlan!" She smacked her rudder on the ground, trying to wipe off any moisture from her fur and face. "Why are ya out 'ere, Kirlan?" The otter's accent was rather odd, not like normal otter speech. It sounded a bit more rough. It could have been accounted for the fact that her father was a sea otter. She had been raised in such a clan until she set off traveling.

Arawn looked carefully back at Kirlan. Could she trust to tell him of what her history was? How she had had to leave? Banished? She paused before answering. "Err...well, you see matey, I wasn't tha' well liked back 'ome. Me folks had..er, a 'roblem when I was a mere Dibbun. 'Tis too hard to explain. I just like these 'ear water'eadows." She scratched her head with a claw, before waiting a reply.

Arawn thought for a moment, then nodded back. "Redwall? Where's 'hat? I'd neva 'eard of such a place." Redwall? Why did it seem to be a comforting word? A word where she could find pezce? She didn't know, but she wished to go there is she could.

"Besides, marm, there's a whoppin' pond back at the Abbey." Another hare came up behind Kirlan. "Hello, I'm Deodar, former Runner of the Long Patrol." She held out a paw towards Arawn.

"Ach. Cut your teasin' lass! Let th' h'otter 'ave her peace!" Kirlan chided, with mock severity. He'd never chide her unless needed. They set off towards Redwall. ((TO REDWALL WE GO!!!))

Arawn chuckled her amusemnt. "Arawn, laddie. 'member that un I 'pose." She shook out a fore leg from moisture and gave way into her otter voice, like a trilling melody. "Redwall we go!"
